Activate your license
Where to enter the license key, how automatic updates work and what to do when the key is rejected.
The license key identifies your purchase. It arrives by email together with the link to download the installers and activates the programs included in your license: just one, a few or all of them, with the Neo Suite.
Enter the key#
- Open the program. While it is not activated, the Activate screen shows the program’s name.
- Paste the key you received by email.
- Click Activate.
The activation is saved for your user on the computer. With a Neo Suite license, the same key activates every program included in it. The command line, the local API and MCP use the activation of the program installed on the same computer.
How updates work#
- The app queries the Neo server when it opens and every 6 hours.
- The new version is downloaded in the background and installed when you close the program. On the next launch you see “NeoMath updated to version X”.
- Every downloaded file is checked by size, SHA-256 and an ed25519 digital signature. A file that does not match is rejected, even if it comes from the right server.
- The app never installs a version equal to or older than the current one.
Windows
Downloads and installs by itself, keeping shortcuts, the local API, the Word integration and file associations.
Linux
Warns in the footer that a new version exists. Install the new .deb with your package manager.
macOS
Warns in the footer that a new version exists. Open the new .dmg and replace the app.
When the key is rejected#
The message Invalid license key: the update was not downloaded shows in the footer when the server does not recognize the key. Check:
- that the key was pasted completely, with no spaces at the start or end;
- that the license is active and covers the product you are using;
- that the license still receives updates (some licenses receive new versions until a given date).
The app keeps working normally with the installed version. If the problem continues, contact our team.
